My Role as a Product Manager
Pre-Launch
Conduct in-depth market research to understand demand for investment portfolio tracking.
Identify the core needs and pain points of the audience (NFT Portfolio, variety of connected platforms).
Analyze competitor portfolio tracking tools and define differentiators for the pivoted product.
Map the user journey, emphasizing ease of portfolio connection and goal-setting features.
Define primary KPIs (number of connected accounts, time spent in the app, number of tracked assets, portfolio diversity) based on the anticipated user journey.
Scope a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for early testing, focusing on essential features like account connection, assets tracking and NFT gallery.
Align with stakeholders (marketing, development, investors) on pivot objectives, new value propositions.
Build a new roadmap to reflect the pivot, ensuring clear timelines for core features, testing, and initial launches.
Set up beta testing or pilot programs with existing users interested in investment tracking.
Launch
Design a smooth onboarding flow tailored to new portfolio tracker users, with tutorials or walkthroughs for tracking assets.
Create a seamless process for users to import data from brokerages, spreadsheets, or other tracking apps.
Work with marketing to clarify messaging and positioning to existing and new users, addressing why the pivot provides more value.
Prepare and oversee the product’s launch announcement, product pages, and user FAQs.
Engage in community management to build rapport with the investment-oriented user base.
Post-Launch
Track and analyze early KPIs (daily active users, churn rate, portfolio imports) to gauge user engagement and potential bottlenecks.
Monitor qualitative feedback through customer support, app reviews, and social media for immediate insights on issues or requests.
Collaborate with customer support to establish protocols for common questions (importing data, account connections).
Oversee quick resolution of issues related to integrations, as technical friction in data import could cause user drop-off.
Focus on retention strategies such as personalized insights, goal setting, and alerts on investment milestones.
Develop features based on initial feedback, like benchmarking tools, goal-tracking for retirement or major purchases, and notifications.
Set up regular feedback channels through surveys, community engagement, and in-app feedback prompts.
Actively manage a product roadmap that is responsive to ongoing feedback and adjusts the app based on emerging user needs.
Investigate adding integrations with popular financial platforms, enhancing data accuracy and streamlining the portfolio management experience.
